Notes: The Local Government Act 1972 Schedule 12 Para 7 (1) states that ‘A Parish/Town Council shall in every year hold an Annual Meeting’. The Annual Meeting is similar to a usual Town Council meeting, except it includes the annual election of the Chairman and Vice-Chair (Local Government Act 1972 ss 15).
Notes: All English Town Councils are required, by law, to hold an Annual Town Meeting, which must take place between 1 March and 1 June every year. These Annual Town Meetings are a meeting of the electorate and cannot start before 18:00. Anyone may attend but only registered electors of Longridge may speak and vote during the meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss “Town Affairs”. The public (electors) can send questions to the Clerk for discussion at the meeting. Presentations can be given and guest speakers invited to attend. Refreshments can be made available. Electors are requested to submit questions or topics for discussion in advance of the meeting to the Town Clerk by 20 May 2026 to ensure inclusion in the agenda. Contact: clerk@longridge-tc.gov.uk or 01772 782461. The agenda is based on standard practices for Annual Meetings of Electors in England, as governed by the Local Government Act 1972, which mandates such meetings for Parish/Town councils.
