Christmas Message

Christmas Message from the Mayor:

It is with great pleasure that I write to convey, on behalf of the Town Council, best wishes to all Longridge residents for the forthcoming festive season.

We are all aware that the nature of the town is changing as a consequence of the additional homes being built in the town itself and neighbouring Preston. The Town Council is doing what it can to determine the impact these homes will have on the town’s environment and infrastructure. What does not change, however, is the extent of the voluntary commitment given by numerous individuals to a range of organisations and events that take place throughout the year. The impressive list includes the Rotary Club, voluntary litter pickers, those who give their time to assist with Longridge Does Christmas, the Goosnargh and Longridge Agricultural Show, Longridge Field Day, The Heritage Centre, Churches Together and Civic Hall. In addition, so many people give their time to run the wide range of organisations for young people and sports clubs in the town and the newly formed Longridge Environment Group is yet another opportunity to come together and make a difference. I never cease to be amazed by the generosity of local businesses who are always willing to support charity events and raffles with donations.

Community spirit in Longridge is alive and well and it is good to see that this is recognised by those people who move into the town from elsewhere and involve themselves in it’s many activities.

I would like to express the appreciation of my wife and I for the support and kindness afforded to us in our Mayoral year. It has been a real pleasure to meet so many wonderful people who have the best interests of the town at heart.

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year.
