Higher Road Speed Survey

Response from LCC to Longridge Town Council:
Speeding Traffic, Higher Road, Longridge
Further to our previous correspondence dated 19 September 2017, we have now completed our investigations of Higher Road, the location being discussed with the Police at the recent Speed Tasking meeting. A speed survey has been carried out and the results of the survey were reported to the Speed Tasking Group as follows:
Northbound mean speed 31 mph 85th percentile speed 36.6 mph Southbound mean speed 30 mph 85th percentile speed 36.4 mph
The 85th percentile speed is the speed at or below which 85% of the vehicles are travelling. It is the 85th percentile speed value which is used by the Police to determine which sites are appropriate for mobile speed enforcement. As a consequence of the monitoring this location has been recommended for periodic Police enforcement with a mobile speed camera. They will carry out a number of checks before enforcement can be carried out, including identifying and addressing any technical, legal or safety issues in relation to this particular road.
I trust this reassures you that we are working with partners to address the concerns you have raised.
